Ettington CFR held a fundraising event at The Chequers Inn on Sunday 30th August. Alongside a Spanish Fiesta event organised by The Chequers, Ettington CFR was invited to use the opportunity to raise awareness of the scheme and to raise funds. The event included a raffle with 100% of the proceeds going directly to Ettington CFR Scheme.
The weather obviously knew it was a Bank Holiday and didn’t miss a trick – sandwiched by reasonably nice weather on the Saturday and Monday, the Sunday was, well ….. wet! However, it might have been damp from a weather point of view but it certainly didn’t dampen the spirit of the guests and the First Responder team.
Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of the guests and staff, an incredible sum of £333 was raised from the raffle.
Russ Inman of Ettington CFR team said; ” We are delighted with the amount that was raised from the raffle at the Spanish Fiesta and would like to thank everyone who so generously supported this event; both those who bought tickets and the companies and individuals who donated prizes. Our third First Responder has recently qualified and so we are in the process of purchasing a third set of emergency equipment in order to allow us to extend our ‘on duty’ time with the result that we will be able to attend more callouts. It costs about £1,200 for each set of equipment – and this is just for the basic, essential items. As our funds grow, we are looking to extend the equipment that we carry in order to help us to provide even more effective treatment to the patient at the scene. Fundraising events, such as the Spanish Fiesta, are an essential means of helping us do this. In addition to the boost to the Scheme’s funds, the event was also a great opportunity for us to raise the profile of the First Responder scheme”.
The CFR team would like to thank:
Kirstin and James – the owners of The Chequers Inn – for the opportunity to fundraise as part of the Spanish Fiesta event;
The customers and staff at The Chequers in for their outstanding generosity;
All the companies and individuals who donated prizes; Ettington Chase Hotel, Ettington Park Hotel, Ettington Pre-School, Euston Place Dental Practice, Heliair, The Chequers Inn, Zarig Prothero;
John Davies of West Midlands Ambulance Service who attended to support the team and answer questions from the public;
Steve Kendrick – our draw master for the raffle.
