At the meeting of Ettington Parish Council on 14th January 2010, the Parish Councillors awarded Ettington CFR Scheme a donation to the sum of £920.
This was comprised of £220 towards general expenses, for the purchase of general First Responder equipment and clothing, and £700 specifically for the purchase of our fourth Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). The AED is a vital part of each of our First Responder’s equipment. If team members are called to attend a patient in Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA), it is the only way to provide defibrillation. For each minute that passes for a patient in SCA, the chances of survival decrease by 7 – 10%*.
Russ Inman, Scheme Coordinator of ECFRS said; “This is an astounding contribution from Ettington Parish Council and we are extremely grateful to the Councillors for their extraordinary commitment and support to the Ettington CFR Scheme. These two donations will allow us to purchase additional equipment; this is now vital as our fourth and fifth First Responders become active over the next few weeks and months. Ettington Parish Council provided the initial funding which allowed the Scheme to be set up in the first place. It’s no exaggeration to say that the Parish Council’s support has been instrumental in the formation of this service”.
(Ettington Parish Council provided a substantial financial input in November 2008 as part of the formation of the Scheme. This funded the initial three AEDs).
