On 13 October, the team attended an update training session together with colleagues from local teams (Shipston-on-Stour, Oxhill, Wellesbourne, Avon Valley, Long Compton). The session was devised by the Ettington team to provide some further specific training to help our CFRs optimise the service that we deliver to our patients.
We are very grateful to Stu Eastbury and Tim Cronin, serving crew members with West Midlands Ambulance Service, for kindly providing this training. In addition to the training itself, Stu and Tim’s ‘front-line’ experience provided a vital element to the training. Stu and Tim were supported by John Davies, CFR Trainer, West Midlands Ambulance Service.
During the session, the team reviewed the use of equipment carried in the Ambulances and Rapid Response Vehicles – including assisting the paramedic with cannulation and intubation – and how to assist crew members when transporting patients on a long-board (this immobilises the patient where neck, back or limb injuries have occurred or are suspected).
